CountywideWork with horses: Volunteers are needed at Wings of Eagles Therapeutic Horseback Riding Ranch, which serves special needs children and adults. The winter session runs Jan.7-Feb. 28. Department of Transportation this summer is scheduled to begin widening Interstate 85 from N.C. 73 to Lane Street. NCDOT officials recently gathered input on the $204 million plan from residents of Cabarrus and Rowan. The state plans to widen I-85 from four to eight lanes to reduce traffic congestion. Harrisburg Communicate clearly: The Town of Harrisburg has posted a communications survey on its website, www.harrisburgnc.org. Residents are asked to answer questions about how they prefer to get information from the town, their reading habits of the town news, how often they visit the town’s website and ways the town can improve.
