Spanish classes: Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will offer conversational Spanish classes from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 22-March 19, at the college’s North Campus in Salisbury, and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 17-March 14, at the college’s South Campus in Concord. Angel Tree: Senior Helpers of Concord and Emeritus at Churchill of Mooresville are sponsoring children and seniors in need during the holidays through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree initiative. The Angel Tree also will benefit children and seniors served by the Winnie Hooper Center in Mooresville. I-77 toll lanes: The North Mecklenburg Republican Women will host a public presentation about plans to widen Interstate 77 by two toll lanes. The presentation will be held Dec. 11 at NorthStone Country Club, 15801 Northstone Drive, Huntersville. Registration begins at 6 p.m., buffet dinner starts at 6:30 p.m.

The plans call for toll lanes to widen I-77 starting at the Brookshire exit in Charlotte and running through Exit 36 in Mooresville. Guests will hear about the status of the decision-making and planning, as well as have the chance to ask questions. $20 per person (cash or check paid at the door), for reservations: nomeckrw@gmail.com.

Community Chorus: The North Mecklenburg Community Chorus will perform for free at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10 at Assurance UMC, 9700 Mount Holly-Huntersville Road, and 3 p.m. Dec. 15 at Huntersville UMC, 14005 Stumptown Road.
