Lincoln launches online gun permit system

LINCOLNTON -- The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office says it has moved to a new online system for residents to order and pay for gun permits.

The new system enables applicants to pay for gun permits online, using all major credit cards.

Residents can still do this in person at the sheriff’s office at 700 John Howell Memorial Drive in Lincolnton, or the Charlie District Office on North Highway 16 in Denver. Office hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Applicants will be notified by email that their applications have been received, and email also will be used if residents must submit additional documents, and to notify them that permits were issued or denied.

Once the application is approved, applicants must go to one of the sheriff’s offices, with a North Carolina driver license or other identification, to pick up the permits.

The application form can be found at www.lincolnsheriff.org.
