More Information

Members of Charlotte’s Jewish community gathered at SouthPark Mall on Sunday for a menorah lighting that celebrates the holiday of Hanukkah.

A giant menorah in the mall was the center of the event, which also featured children from Ohr HaTorah Talmud Torah and Chabad of Ballantyne Hebrew School singing traditional songs.

Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights, is an eight-day commemoration of re-dedication of the Temple by the Maccabees after their victory over the Syrians.

Sunday was the second night of Hanukkah. Dan Duffey
