Honors chorus: Fourth graders Jonathan Townsend, Sarah Kate Stricker and Catherine Grace Jarvie and fifth grader Wyatt Kennedy recently performed at the N.C. State Music Educators’ Conference in Winston-Salem as part of North Carolina’s Elementary Honors Chorus. The students were directed by CD teacher Mary Ann Foltz.

College finances: The school will host a financial aid night for parents at 6 p.m. Jan. 23. Financial aid officers from colleges will address FAFSA filings and answer questions.

Volleyball award: Varsity volleyball coach Suzie Pignetti was named American Volleyball Coaches Association High School National Coach of the Year. Pignetti will coach Latin’s first team All-American Eve Davis in the Under Armour All-America Volleyball Match.

Fundraising donation: Through several fundraisers, Latin students presented a check for more than $11,000 to Habitat for Humanity. The funds will be used to build a Habitat home in a joint service project with Charlotte Country Day School.

Musical productions: The high school will present “Beauty and the Beast” Feb. 7-10.
Providence High
NCAA signing: Five PHS student athletes signed letters of intent Nov. 28 to play college sports: Josh Black - Furman Baseball, Kyle Darmody- Auburn Swimming, Jimmy Doolittle- Wingate Baseball, Emily Franklin - Davidson Volleyball, Parker Glaus –Limestone.

Victory Christian Center School
NASA award: In a nationwide competition, the school’s Rocket Team has been awarded $3,700 from NASA to design and build a high-powered rocket for the 2013 Student Launch Initiative Project. The team will travel to Huntsville, Ala., in April to compete in a final competition.
