Authorities corral loose emu near highway

By Cleve R. Wootson Jr.

Authorities captured a loose emu near Interstate 85 near Salisbury Sunday afternoon.

The bird was caught around 4:30 p.m. by animal control officers and other police officers near where the interstate meets Peeler Road. N.C. Highway Patrol troopers also helped in the capture.

It was unclear late Saturday where the bird came from. It wasn’t injured as authorities tried to capture it and authorities didn’t have to shut down the interstate. NBC Charlotte contributed.
