Free holiday caregiving
The Ivey is offering a free four-hour visit for any seniors with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or those with other chronic conditions through Dec. 28. The Ivey, a nonprofit memory care day center, is open 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at 6030 Park South Drive. Visits are limited to one per family. To make arrangements: 704-909-2070.

Hike for your health
This free group walk focuses on getting outside, getting fresh air and getting healthy. 1-2 p.m. Jan. 5 at Ribbon Walk Nature Preserve, 4601 Nevin Road. Open to ages 12 and up, this will be a medium- to fast-paced walk. This event is free, but registration is requested: 704-432-6460.
