Store owner shot and killed

SALISBURY Rowan County investigators are seeking the public’s help after the owner of a convenience store was fatally shot during a robbery Monday evening.

Hecham Abualeinan, 59, died after being shot in the head at the Z & H Mart in the 3600 block of Mooresville Road shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday, said Capt. John Sifford of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. The store is located just west of Salisbury.

The sheriff’s office and State Bureau of Investigation are working together to help solve the crime.

In the meantime, the sheriff’s office is asking anyone who knows about the shooting or who was a customer at the Z&H Mart after 9 p.m. Monday to contact authorities.
