Terry Thorson Cox is president and CEO of Business Innovation and Growth, a Charlotte-based advocacy group for entrepreneurs.
Cox says a “gem” of the group is the five-year-old BIG Ideas Exchange. It’s a monthly book meeting where entrepreneurs can discuss business books they may not have had time to read.
Several local entrepreneurs who are also authors have participated in the discussion lineup. They include Huntersville entrepreneur Chia-Li Chien, author of “Show Me the Money: Run Your Business Like a Prosperous Investor;” retired Charlotte businessman Norman Cohen, who wrote “Don’t Cry Foul, Just Strike Them Out,” and “50 Marketing $ecrets of Growth Companies in Down Economic Times,” by Lake Norman-based public relations specialist Sherré DeMao.
Gatherings are open to like-minded guests “who would enjoy a dialogue with other entrepreneurs,” Cox said. Learn more at www.bigcouncil.com.
“We have professors, we have people from larger corporations,” Cox said. “If a book strikes their fancy, they’ll show up.”
“…We do it on Friday mornings. And people always leave there very energized.” – Celeste Smith
