Lincolnton man charged with sexually assaulting a child

A Lincolnton man has been accused of sexually assaulting a child on two separate occasions, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Rex Randolph Beaver, 72, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree sexual offense of a victim under the age of 13 and indecent liberties with a child, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The crimes occurred on Nov. 1 and Dec. 8 and were reported on Dec. 9, authorities said.

When questioned by investigators, Beaver confessed to the crimes, authorities said.

Beaver was being held in the Haven A. Crouse Detention Center on $250,000 bond. He and the victim were related, according to authorities.
