CMPD investigates shooting

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Tuesday were investigating a shooting at 300 West Craighead Road in Charlotte.

Charles McCauley, 32, was shot through the lower back around 11:35 p.m. on Dec. 9, a police report shows. The bullet travelled into McCauley’s chest, causing serious injury, the report said. McCauley was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment, but a nursing supervisor at the hospital said Tuesday that McCauley was no longer a patient there.

Police are still searching for suspects in the shooting but aren’t releasing any information about that search or potential suspects, a CMPD spokesman said.

McCauley knew the person who shot him, the report shows.
