RALEIGH Three men from Charlotte and a man and woman from Raleigh have been charged with trafficking in heroin, according to arrest warrants filed Tuesday night.
Kenneth Ward Wheeler, 19, of Raleigh was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after he was found to be in possession of 4 to 14 grams of heroin.
Wheeler is charged with two counts of trafficking in heroin and one count of possession with intent to sell or distribute heroin.
Thirty minutes later, police went to the Red Roof Inn on South Saunders Street at Interstate 40 and arrested Kiara Ladawn Ledbetter, 20, of Raleigh. They also arrested the three Charlotte men: Paul Anthony Shell, 20, of 2844 Old Steele Creek Road, Paul Gregory Perry, 29, of 9525 Puddle Duck Road and Keyondre Lashawn Owens, 17, of 1315 Della Drive.
Each of them is charged with trafficking for having 28 grams or more of heroin in the hotel room.
Perry is also charged with selling 24 grams or more of heroin to Wheeler, and maintaining Room 433 at the Red Roof Inn as a place to keep drugs.
Bail was set at $100,000 for Perry, $75,000 for Wheeler, $50,000 for Shell, and $25,000 each for Ledbetter and Owens. All were being held in the Wake County jail.
