Huntersville

Citizen’s Police Academy: The Huntersville Police Department is accepting applications for its sixth annual Citizen’s Police Academy. This free, 10-week program will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Jan. 22 through March 26 at the Police Department, 9630 Julian Clark Ave. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Jan. 11. Participants must be 18 or older; live or work in Huntersville and must not have been convicted of or have pending charges for any misdemeanor offense within the past two years or felony offense. Future Cats: Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the National Basketball Academy to offer the Bobcats Holiday Basketball Camp, Dec. 26-28. The holiday clinic runs 9 a.m.-noon each day at Huntersville Elementary School, 200 Gilead Road, Huntersville. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-16 and will focus on the fundamentals of basketball. Cost is $115 and included a ticket to a Bobcats game. Davidson

Senior Scholars: These free programs are scheduled 1-2:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month, Davidson Parks and Recreation Office, 416 Armour St. Dates may change due to speaker availability. Speakers are experts in their fields and include Davidson college professors, local physicians and business professionals. Details: 704-892-3349.
