A portion of Carmel and Park roads will be temporarily closed early next week so crews can prepare for the future widening of Interstate 485.
Barring bad weather, the N.C. Department of Transportation plans to close one lane of Park Road at I-485 from 8 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday.
Crews then will close one lane of Carmel Road over I-485 from 8 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
States transportation officials say the closures are needed to a contractor can collect soil samples ahead of the I-485 widening project.
