Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are searching for a suspect after authorities say a 21-year-old man was killed in an early-morning shooting.
Police were called to the 2000 block of B Avenue around 6 a.m. Saturday where officers found a man who had been shot. The victim, who was identified as Raymona Abraham, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say they believe Abraham and his shooter possibly knew each other, and they have “no reason to believe that this was a random act of violence.”
On Saturday, police released a limited description of the suspect, who was described as a black male with a dark complexion, about 6-foot-2 and weighing 205 lbs., who wore his hair in braids. The suspect fled the scene, possibly in a white two-door Ford Explorer, police said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with a homicide detective or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
Early Saturday, homicide detectives were going around the neighborhood to see if there were any witnesses to the crime. Others who responded to the scene included members of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team, and the police department’s vice and gang unit.
