Rock Hill police identify suspected homicide victim, 76

The woman found dead in her Rock Hill home Friday afternoon has been identified by police as 76-year-old Cora M. Campbell.

Rock Hill detectives are investigating Campbell’s death as a homicide.

Campbell’s family called law enforcement Friday afternoon, asking that officers check on the woman. They told police they hadn’t heard from Campbell since Monday.

Officers found the woman’s body in her South Jones Avenue home Friday evening.

Police have canvassed the southern Rock Hill neighborhood and are following leads, said police spokesman Lt. Brad Redfearn.

No arrests have been made.

Investigators would not release further details about the woman or the cause of her death, Redfearn said, only that detectives are investigating it as a homicide.

If police determine the death to be a homicide, Campbell would be the city’s seventh homicide victim this year.

Anyone with information about this crime can contact Rock Hill police at 803-329-7200.
