The day before it will start distributing food and toys to needy families in Union County, the county Christmas Bureau still needs non-perishable food items for 545 families, the bureau said Tuesday morning.
The bureau will distribute food and toys to about 2,200 families from Wednesday through Friday, said Gloria Haney, who coordinates the program. Items needed for the remaining packages include non-perishable fruits and vegetables, flour or bread products, Haney said.
The bureau is open from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. weekdays at 1620 E. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, in the former Bi-Lo store.
