ROCK HILL An intoxicated man who challenged another man to a fight outside a Rock Hill Waffle House Sunday hit the outside window of the restaurant, causing the glass to shatter, deputies say.

Around 2 a.m., deputies spoke with a 48-year-old man who said that he encountered the intoxicated man, who he’s had problems with in the past, at the Waffle House on Cherry Road, according to a York County Sheriff’s report. The man said he wanted to fight with him.

When the two men walked outside, the drunk man either hit or kicked the window at the front of the restaurant, causing the glass to shatter, the report states. The man then left in an unknown car.

A Waffle House employee confirmed the events. The victim told deputies that the man is married to his cousin’s daughter, but he could not provide more details. The drunk man’s age and name were not listed on the report.
