College fishing tourney on Lake Wylie to air

The college fishing championships held on Lake Wylie in September will air Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. on NBC Sports. The FLW Outdoors Southeastern College Championships will air on direct TV channel 220 and Comporium cable channel 180.

Twenty college teams from the SEC and ACC conferences and nine of the top high school teams in the Southeast, competed in the National Guard FLW College Fishing Nationals. Each day, teams launched from Ebenezer Park to fish the waters of Lake Wylie in search of the best bass.

Team weigh-ins were held at the Newport Wal-Mart.

“We are proud that Rock Hill will once again be shown on a national stage,” said Auvis Cole, sports sales manager of the Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

FLW College Fishing is the country’s largest tournament circuit for collegiate anglers with more than 550 clubs nationwide competing for lucrative awards, plus a chance to fish against the world’s top anglers in the Forrest Wood Cup.

For information about the television coverage, or the championships, contact Auvis Cole, sports sales manager for the Rock Hill/York County Convention and Visitors Bureau at 803-329-5200.
