Its been a while since Ive talked about Robert and I, so I figured it was time to write a catch-up post. Im really excited for the upcoming year and the changes weve decided to make. Thirteen is actually my lucky number, so the fact that it is 2013 is a good start. Anytime there is a big and exciting change in my life, it is usually on the 13th. Ive been promoted and hired on Friday the 13th more than once, and the best of all, Robert proposed to me on January 13th. On top of the lucky number, weve made some decisions that have left me feeling great about the upcoming year.
For starters, well be ringing in the New Year in a different country! In case you didnt know, were leaving for Australia next Thursday! Im afraid of flying, so Im really nervous about the flight. However, Ive never been to Australia and I cant wait to see the New Years fireworks over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Its also our second trip out of the country together, and for someone who hasnt travelled with her husband a lot, a vacation abroad is still a wonderful novelty. Dont worry, Ill definitely be updating this blog while Im away.
Once were back, and over the intense time difference, were both going back to school. Robert has already enrolled and has classes coming up in March. As for me, Im going to be filling out paperwork and preparing myself for a summer or fall start. Ive really missed university and Im excited to be back on campus (yes, I am the nerdy, bookworm type). Both of our degrees will take two years, so weve got even more exciting changes ahead.
Im also preparing to run my first race. I wont actually be participating until 2014, but as I am very out of shape, I want to give myself a year to build up endurance and become a strong runner. Im really excited about the prospect of the race and Im hoping I can stay motivated. When it comes to working out, Im prone to finding my way to the couch versus the gym. If youre already a runner, please feel free to share some tips/suggestions. Ill be keeping everyone updated on my progress here.
Last, but not least, were going to Disney World. Of course, Ive already mentioned this, but Im excited for our first trip alone. Of all the vacations weve been on, weve never gone somewhere by ourselves. For a Disney nerd like myself, I cant think of a more perfect location for our first solo trip.
So as long as the world doesnt end on Friday, we have a lot to look forward to. Honestly, I dont believe that the world is ending this Friday, but I did want to share the above picture.
I also wanted to take the time to wish everyone a happy holiday and a safe vacation. If youre working next week, I hope you have an amazing shift and get some time with your families.
