• Charlotte Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap grew up in Alaska, then attended college and played basketball at Loyola-Marymount in the Los Angeles area. Dunlap said the best thing about moving to the City of Angels was getting to meet Lakers great Jerry West.
At 18, Dunlap was playing in pickup games at Pepperdine. West came by, was working on a basketball concept, and picked Dunlap out of a crowd to demonstrate. Pretty exciting for a kid who grew up listening to Lakers games on the radio.
• Ex-Laker Ramon Sessions, who signed with the Bobcats over the summer, drew a few boos the first time he entered the game at Staples Center. Not sure why Lakers fans would have a problem with Sessions except he did have a poor postseason last spring.
• It looks like Pau Gasols return will eat into Charlottean Antawn Jamisons minutes as a Lakers backup power forward. When Dwight Howard sits, Gasol moves to center and Metta World Peace plays power forward. That squeezes down veteran Jamisons playing time.
