A rape suspect who had been sought by Rowan County authorities for nearly a week is now behind bars, authorities said Wednesday.
William Everett Blevins II, 28, was arrested Tuesday in Stanly County. He is currently being held without bond in the Rowan County jail on charges of second-degree forcible rape and forcible sex offense.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said investigators received a report on Dec. 9 about a forcible rape, and its investigation led them to Blevins. Deputies first asked the public last Friday for help in finding Blevins.
Authorities said Blevins, who was released from federal prison over the summer, also had been wanted by U.S. Marshals for a federal probation violation.
