Charlotte-based Mothers of Murdered Offspring this week will host candlelight vigils throughout the region for the 28 victims of the Newtown, Conn., massacre.
The Cabarrus County chapters vigil will be 6 p.m. Dec. 20 beside Concord Police Headquarters, at Cabarrus Avenue and Market Street in downtown Concord. Residents and their children are invited to light candles, pray and share their feelings about the event. Attendees are asked to bring their own white candles to light during the service.The program will include remarks from local elected officials, prayers from local ministers and information about Mothers of Murdered Offspring. Green and white balloons also will be released in honor of the victims.
