Metalworking company to open Statesville plant

STATESVILLE A Michigan-based metalworking company intends to create up to 75 jobs when it opens a $3 million, 75,000-square-foot Statesville manufacturing plant next year, local economic development officials announced Wednesday.

Paumac Tubing fabricates steel, stainless steel and aluminum tubing for the agricultural, heavy truck and bus markets. The company expects the plant to be in full production during the second quarter of 2013.

Paumac president Norm MacDonald said the company chose Statesville because of its trained workforce and the city being central to the company's customer base.

Paumac is the second national metalworking company - Iron World being the other – to open a Statesville plant in the past three months.
