Trooper wrecks on I-485

A trooper with the N.C. Highway Patrol wrecked this morning near mile-marker 18 on I-485 while trying to chase down a motorcycle, authorities said. The trooper was chasing the motorcycle, who had been clocking going 102 mph in a 65 mph zone, troopers said. The trooper was in the left lane, with his emergency lights on, when another vehicle tried to merge in front of him. The trooper went left to avoid the car, ending up in median and hitting the cable barrier around 7:50 a.m.

Troopers eventually were able to pull the motorcycle over near Harris Boulevard.
