According to the Mayans, Friday is the earth’s expiration date and everyone’s last day on it. Perhaps they just ran out of room on their calendar. (And isn’t the math off, as they left out leap years?) But whatever. It’s an excuse for almost every bar in Charlotte to have an “End of the World” party. Here are a few.

The End of the World Party (Or Not) at Kazba (210 E. Trade St): DJ Coleman Hamilton will spin as you dance until the world ends like Britney Spears. 10 p.m.-2 a.m. (if we make it that long!). 704-761-6567.

End of the World Party at Bailey’s in Pineville (8500 Pineville-Matthews Road): It’s the end of the world as we – and cover band Jimmy’s Moped – know it. 10:30 p.m. Free. 704-541-0794.

End of the World Party at Whisky River (210 E. Trade St.): Party like there’s no tomorrow at Dale Jr.’s place. 980-333-3923 for free cover or VIP arrangements.

Also Friday

Holiday parties are still going strong. Two to consider.

Feliz Navidad Crawl, starting at the Peculiar Rabbit (1212 Pecan Ave.): Includes stops at La Paz, Connolly’s, Prohibition, Jackelope Jack’s, and ends at Volume Lounge. There will even be a mariachi band in tow. 8 p.m. $20 gets you on the bus (limited spots available). 704-309-3316.

Big Al’s Holiday Benefit at Big Al’s Pub and Grubberia (8301-12 Magnolia Estates Drive, Cornelius): It’s a fundraiser for Solace for the Children, a Mooresville-based nonprofit that provides medical, dental and optical care to needy kids. All the drink specials will be served by celebrity guest bartenders. 9 p.m. Donations accepted. 704-987-6582.

Saturday

A Common Christmas at Re: Public (314 N. College St.): Hosted by none other than actor/rapper Common. The Sigmas of Charlotte will be on hand collecting clothes, food, and toys for various charities. 10 p.m. $15. 980-322-9859.
