According to the Mayans, Friday is the earths expiration date and everyones last day on it. Perhaps they just ran out of room on their calendar. (And isnt the math off, as they left out leap years?) But whatever. Its an excuse for almost every bar in Charlotte to have an End of the World party. Here are a few.

Feliz Navidad Crawl, starting at the Peculiar Rabbit (1212 Pecan Ave.): Includes stops at La Paz, Connollys, Prohibition, Jackelope Jacks, and ends at Volume Lounge. There will even be a mariachi band in tow. 8 p.m. $20 gets you on the bus (limited spots available). 704-309-3316.
Big Als Holiday Benefit at Big Als Pub and Grubberia (8301-12 Magnolia Estates Drive, Cornelius): Its a fundraiser for Solace for the Children, a Mooresville-based nonprofit that provides medical, dental and optical care to needy kids. A Common Christmas at Re: Public (314 N. College St.): Hosted by none other than actor/rapper Common. The Sigmas of Charlotte will be on hand collecting clothes, food, and toys for various charities. 10 p.m. $15. 980-322-9859.
