Wine and Design: Owner Elizabeth Coleman of Mooresville plans to open the first Lake Norman franchise of Raleigh-based Wine and Design in January at 18039 W. Catawba Ave., Suite 7, in Cornelius, in the Harbor View center.

Patrons bring a bottle of wine or other beverage of their choice, and Wine and Design provides the canvas, paints, paintbrushes and corkscrew. Artists then lead patrons in producing a painting.

Insight Security: Home security professional Esbith Andaya, a former sales representative and technician with ADT Security and Vector Security, recently opened Insight Security LLC, a home security company serving Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Mooresville.

The company is at 18805 W. Catawba Ave., Suite 207, Cornelius. Andaya said he chose Lake Norman as his security headquarters because the four towns have some of the quickest emergency-response times in the state.

Insight Security LLC features the latest in security equipment and technology, including a touch-screen control panel, real-time response technology and a customizable suite of security features tailored to specific needs. Those features include remote control of doors, locks, lights, thermostats, motion and smoke detectors, garage-door openers and home video surveillance.

Customers can control their system from anywhere with their smartphone, tablet or PC.

Lake Norman Tavern: Uncle Milf’s (Man I Love Food) Lake Norman Tavern, 1468 Brawley School Road in Mooresville, hosted the Brawley Drafters Cycling Club’s first annual Bikes for Tikes fundraiser Dec. 14. The event raised $12,000 to purchase bicycles for at least 150 Mooresville-area children in need. Proceeds went to the local Toys for Tots organization, club founder T.R. Rathbun said. Residents also brought new bikes to the event, where the local band Pointless performed free.
