Woman, 42, dies in SC 55 crash near Clover

A 42-year-old woman died Friday in Gastonia from injuries she received in crash Tuesday near Kings Mountain State Park in western York County.

The woman was driving a 1997 two-door Saturn around 3 p.m. Tuesday when she collided with a 1996 Chevrolet pick up on S.C. 55 about seven miles outside Clover, according to the State Highway Patrol.

The woman’s Saturn was struck when she entered S.C. 55 from Forest View Road, said Lance Cpl. Billy Elder with the Highway Patrol.

The woman, whose name was not immediately available, was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the truck was a 45-year-old man from Clover.

The driver of the truck and a 40-year-old female passenger were wearing seat belts, Elder said, and were taken to the Charlotte Medical Center. It is unclear whether the driver who died was wearing a seat belt.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
