280 run for Santa Sleigh at Lake Wylie

LAKE WYLIE Clover High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC and Special Olympics Fan Club, Area 11, teamed up to sponsor Lake Wylie’s first Santa Sleigh 5K and 2.5K on Dec. 15.

A total of 280 runners participated, making the event a tremendous success in the first year, said organizer Brian Batson, Major USAF (Ret.) and AFJROTC Senior Aerospace Science instructor.

The race course was through The Landing neighborhood in Lake Wylie.

The overall winner was Alex Flores, a JROTC and cross country alumni from Clover High School, with a time of 18:34.
