City Tavern

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at City Tavern with a dinner package and live music at 10 p.m. Admission is $10; waived if guests purchase the three- or four-course dinner package.

The menu offers a choice of appetizer including crab dip with pita points, bacon-wrapped scallops or chicken satay, a salad choice of spinach or a field greens Caesar and an entrée choice of a Tuscan filet, pan-seared sea bass or parmesan-encrusted chicken and eggplant.

Dessert is for two: a five-layer chocolate cake or seasonal cheesecake. A glass of wine and champagne toast is included; $33 per person for three courses or $37 for four. Call for reservations.

Sullivan’s

Sullivan’s is offering a New Year’s Eve dinner package with four courses and two prices: $69 per guest from 4-4:45 p.m. or $79 from 5-11 p.m. Menu highlights: a chilled seafood tasting or calamari for two as a starter, a choice of soup or salad, entrees including an eight-ounce filet mignon, a 12-ounce New York strip or triple-cut lamb chops and a choice of sides including giant baked potato or asparagus with Hollandaise. An additional $20 gets either a seven-ounce lobster tail or a half-pound of Alaskan king crab legs. Dessert selections include chocolate mousse and berries, key lime pie, bananas foster bread pudding and chocolate-covered strawberries. Call or visit the website for reservations.

Del Frisco’s

Ring in the New Year with an eight-ounce filet and eight-ounce lobster for $74, or a selection off Del’s regular menu. Call or visit the website for reservations.

New Year’s Eve dinner here consists of two seatings, at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., for $50 each. Dinner includes a glass of sparkling wine and choices including steak tartare or scallops and short rib.

The Cowfish

The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar has announced plans to open its second location in Raleigh in North Hills in spring 2013. The restaurant is named after the cowfish, a fish with a set of odd horns, and is known for its burgushi: a fusion of burgers and sushi. The new restaurant will occupy 6,000 square feet at 4208 Six Forks Road in Raleigh. Co-owner Marcus Hall is a Raleigh native.

131 Main

At last, 131 Main’s Dilworth location on East Boulevard is scheduled to reopen any day. The location has undergone extensive renovations and is known for its fresh, homemade food.

Hubee D’s

Hubee D’s is under construction and set for a spring opening at 815 Providence Road in the old BP spot. The restaurant, with locations in the Charleston area and Athens, Ga., is known for its fresh, never-frozen buttermilk chicken tenders and nuggets and jumbo wings. Wings are slow-hickory smoked in house seasoning, then tossed in one of Hubee D’s special sauces. Sides include hand-cut fries, coleslaw, boiled peanuts and cornbread, all from scratch.
