Interactive map: Charlotte's 2012 gun incidents

Charlotte Mecklenburg police responded to more than 2,300 incidents involving guns this year.

About 92 percent of the incidents involved handguns while shotguns and rifles were involved in about 4 percent of the incidents, respectively.

Crimes involving guns in Charlotte included everything from murder and rape to theft and drug offenses, data show. Robberies topped the list, with more than 990 involving guns. Nearly 750 aggravated assaults this year involved guns.
