Post offices in the Charlotte region and across the country will be open until noon on Christmas Eve, according to the U.S. Postal Service.
Many federal employees were given Monday off as part of an Executive Order issued by President Barack Obama. But the Postal Service said it will be open for part of the day because the order exempts agencies that serve a public need.
Retail lobbies at post offices will be open until noon Monday, and the postal service also says customers should drop off mail into blue collection boxes by 12 p.m. as well. Regular mail delivery wont be affected by the hour changes, officials said in a news release.
The Post Office will be closed on Tuesday (only Express Mail will be delivered on Christmas Day), but will reopen on Wednesday.
