10 Questions: Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Bruce Campbell

The Observer asks 10 questions of Panthers offensive lineman Bruce Campbell, who came to Carolina during the offseason via a trade with Oakland, as the Raiders visit Bank of America Stadium on Sunday:

Q. What do you think about facing these guys and what do you remember about your time in Oakland?

I’m actually excited about playing the team that I got traded from (for RB Mike Goodson). My time there, I had a decent time. But hey, line up on Sunday, you’re enemies on the field and friends after.

Q. What was your highlight in Oakland?

(Laughs) I really didn’t do too much out there but special teams. I don’t know. Highlight?

Q. Did you like living out there?

It’s a decent life. It’s different. Different from the East Coast. It was a good change for me to see something different in life.

Q. Are you disappointed you haven’t gotten more work here this year?

I want to play. But playing guard for two years and having to come back and get used to being out in space and playing tackle, I fully understand. I’m just playing my role. Can’t really complain too much about that.

Q. I know you’ve been active a few weeks. Have you been on the field much?

I was goal-line tight end and I was on field goal when I was active.

Q. Were you an eligible receiver?

Yeah, one play. There was one time I did actually almost go out, but I didn’t go out for a route.

Q. What did you think about Maryland leaving the ACC?

I guess change is good for everybody. I mean, it’s hard. That’s why I went (to Maryland) – for the ACC. I just think it’s going to be something to get used to, people asking, what school did you go to? Maryland – they’re in the ACC. Nah, they’re not in the ACC no more. So it’s going to be different.

Q. There are no natural rivalries for them in the Big Ten.

No. I can’t even tell you a Big Ten school.

Q. Was Oakland as rough as some people make it out to be?

Not really. Oakland’s a good town, man. It’s a little rough in areas. But you’ve got natural respect for your environment after hearing so much about it.

Q. What will Raiders fans be doing and wearing when they show up at Bank of America Stadium?

They’re going to be in Oakland stuff. You might catch a couple people face-painted, a couple people in masks, (shoulder) pads. It’s all what the stadium allows. If they allow mask and pads, then people are going to be wearing them.
