ROCK HILL A pregnant Rock Hill woman told police that her live-in boyfriend and father of her unborn child held a knife to her stomach and pushed her, leaving her with what she said were symptoms of a possible miscarriage.

Police on Saturday arrested Brandon LaQuentin Belton, 23, of 710 Beckham Lane, Apt. 403, charging him with criminal domestic violence, according to a Rock Hill police report. By Monday morning, he had been released from jail on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

Officers were sent to the home around 3:15 p.m. when the woman, 20, said Belton pulled a knife on her before running through the house, looking for another man he thought was inside, the report states.

The woman said she held a closet door shut to make Belton think someone was hiding, the report states. Belton put the knife to the woman’s stomach, saying that if she didn’t move, “it was about to get physical.”

Belton admitted to police that he did grab a knife, but changed his story several times about why he was holding it, the report states. The woman told officers she was bleeding and cramping, as if suffering a miscarriage, after Belton allegedly pushed and shoved her around.

Despite insistence from officers, she declined medical attention. The report notes that she had “no sense of urgency” about leaving for the hospital.
