SHARON A 15-year-old Sharon boy told deputies someone posted a sexual advertisement about him in the personals section on Craigslist, an online barter site.
Last Thursday, deputies were sent to the boy’s home, where he said he discovered the ad after seeing people talking about it in a chat room, according to a York County Sheriff’s report.
He said the ad was “of a sexual nature,” the report states. While police were still on scene, the boy contacted Craigslist via email to make site administrators aware of the situation.
He said that he met the people possibly responsible through an online game but had no further information about them. No arrests were made.
On Christmas Day, more than 300 personals ads from the Charlotte-area were posted on Craigslist, many of them sexual in nature.
