US Airways waives change fee due to storm

By Fred Clasen-Kelly

As a severe winter storm threatened to derail holiday travel in parts of the Midwest and Northeast, US Airways announced plans for possible flight delays and cancellations.

The airline, which operates its largest hub at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, said it would waive the “change fee” for customers who must alter their flights for nearly two dozens cities.

The offer is available to travelers who scheduled flights Wednesday and Thursday. They must keep the same flight origin and destination and reschedule between Dec. 28 and Jan. 1.

Forecasters predict more than a foot of snow and strong winds could blanket parts of Indiana, Ohio, western New York, Pennsylvania and New England.
