ROCK HILL Authorities are working to determine what caused an early morning fire Thursday that destroyed the McDonalds restaurant on East Main Street.
Firefighters were called to the 1200 block of East Main Street before 3:30 a.m., where they found the restaurant engulfed. One employee was reportedly in the building at the time, but no injuries were reported.
It took firefighters about two hours to get the fire under control. Rock Hill Battalion Chief Rusty Myers said the building was a total loss.
In the meantime, authorities have closed Albright Road between Black Street and East Main, and Black Street between Albright and Porter roads so investigators can work the scene. It was not immediately clear when the roads will reopen.
Drivers are asked to use White and Flint streets as an alternate route. The (Rock Hill) Herald contributed.
