Rock Hill man killed in Wednesday wreck

Rock Hill A Rock Hill man died Wednesday after the car he was driving ran off the right side of the road and struck a bridge abutment on the side of the road, officials say.

The Highway Patrol responded to a single car crash on Zinker Road, between McConnells Highway and S.C. 5, at 4:20 p.m., said Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne with the Highway Patrol.

The man, who drove a 2002 Chevrolet S10 pickup, ran off the right shoulder of the road, striking a bridge abutment, Rhyne said. He was not wearing a seat belt, but wasn’t entrapped or ejected.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity wasn’t immediately available.
