Gastonia police are trying to identify two men accused of stealing 57 cartons of cigarettes from a Bi-Lo on Christmas Day.
The burglary was reported around 4 a.m. Tuesday at the Bi-Lo in the 2200 block of Union Road.
Police said two suspects broke the glass doors of the grocery store before jumping over the front counter and putting the cigarettes into plastic bags. The men then ran out of the store. The cigarettes were worth an estimated $2,500, police said Thursday.
Police released surveillance photos of the suspects. One was described as a black male with medium build who was wearing a camo jacket with a hood, blue jeans and black shoes. The other suspect was also described as a black male with a medium build who was wearing a coat that was mostly tan with black or another dark color on the shoulders of the coat.
Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Gastonia police Det. Dave Wind at 704-836-0071 or Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000. Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
