Overturned car in Providence Rd. wreck

Two wrecks are causing traffic problems Friday morning on Providence Road in southeast Charlotte.

Both wrecks occurred between 8:10 and 8:25 a.m..

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police car was involved in a collision on Providence Road at Pineville-Matthews Road. That is in the Arboretum area. According to police, no injuries were reported in that collision.

A short distance northwest of that site, a car overturned on inbound Providence Road near Oberwood Drive. That is not far from the Rea Road intersection. Initial reports indicated that a motorist was trapped in the overturned car.

Traffic is badly snarled in the area, and motorists should find an alternate route until at least 9:45 a.m.
