Queen Beatrice, a 6 lb., Eurasian Eagle Owl, is one of two eagle owls at the Carolina Raptor Center who will participate...for food in the center's Photo WILD! event the next two weekends. The owls are among the largest in the world, bigger even than Great Horned Owls which are native to the Carolinas. Amber Rosintoski, 27, bird curator at the Carolina Raptor Center worked with several raptors Wednesday in preparation for a program called Photo WILD! where professional and amateur photographers have a chance to get up close for pictures the next two weekends at the center. "We have a lot of beautiful birds but it is hard to get good photos of them in enclosures," Rosintoski says. "It's a great opportunity and a really easy way to give back to the birds." Fees paid by the photographers help support the resident bird program at the raptor center. The dates for Photo WILD! are March 24 & 25 (Saturday Mar. 24th is full) and march 31 and April 1. One day fees are$90 for non-members, $65 for members and $40 for students. Activities begin each day with a 7am breakfast and progress to photography from 8am-noon. The number of photographers is limited to about 35 per day and they have the opportunity to photograph about 30 birds from the small Eastern Screech Owl to the Eurasion Eagle Owl. John D.
