From a nod to the nautical to primary color pairings, fashion experts Christine Nelson of Simply Sassy in Mooresville and Catherine Horgan of Closet of Style in Charlotte shared their top sartorial must-haves for the New Year.

Other trends to watch for are women’s pantsuits, including Bermuda shorts with a jacket, says Nelson. We’ll also see head-to-toe monochromatic looks as well as earth tones in menswear.

Horgan says look for men wearing dress or semidress shoes without socks, while women will don sheer, flowy layers of clothing as well as feminine dresses and pencil skirts. Skinny jeans are sticking around, but with a bit more givable fit.

Whatever your style, you should be able to find just what you’re looking for among these exciting new looks.
