Phony checks passed at Rock Hill store

Detectives are investigating a pair of phony Harris Teeter payroll checks that were cashed last week at a Rock Hill convenience store, police reports show.

The checks, worth $250 apiece, were cashed at the Park Grocery store on East Main Street by two women, a police report states, but the cashier then alerted police after the checks came back as fakes.

No arrests have been made.
