A Rock Hill man with two previous convictions for drunk driving is in jail under $40,000 bond on another driving under the influence charge after he failed to stop for police early New Year’s Day for several blocks, police and jail reports show.

Officers tried to pull over Christopher Kempton, 50, around 2 a.m. Tuesday in the but Kempton did not stop until parking in a yard blocks away from where officers tried to pull him over, according to police.

Kempton, charged with third-offense DUI and failure to stop for a blue light, failed a breath test with a reading of .20, the report states. Kempton has convictions from 2005 and April for DUI, police said.
