Veggies, Vegetation and Victory with Volunteers

The public is invited to this free meeting with the Cabarrus Master Gardener Volunteer Association at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 8 at the N.C. Cooperative Extension-Cabarrus County Center, 715 Cabarrus Ave. W., Concord. The free monthly meetings – typically held the first Saturday of the month – include horticultural speakers, plant/garden/insect problem diagnosis, volunteer opportunities and association information. Planning your Vegetable Garden

The Town of Davidson Parks and Recreation Department will offer this class 9:30-11 a.m. Jan. 23 or March 20, 416 Armour St., Davidson. Classes fill quickly, so early registration is encouraged.

Learn to plan, build, plant and manage a garden that can feed two adults year-round. The class is taught by Don Rosenberg, owner of Instant Organic Garden and author of “No Green Thumb Required! Organic Family Gardening Made Easy.” Class is $10 for Davidson residents, $13 for non-residents, and $5 can be applied toward Rosenberg’s book. Details: 704-892-3349; www.ci.davidson.nc.us.
