Police have arrested a man in connection with the robbery of two pharmacies in Stallings and Indian Trail and say he is a suspect in the robbery of a third pharmacy in Matthews.
Darren Michael Williamson, 41, has been charged with two counts of common-law robberies and may be charged with additional crimes as police continue their investigation, according to a news release from the Union County Sheriffs Office.
Stalling police were trying to identify a suspect in a Wednesday morning robbery at the Walgreens at Potter Road and Chestnut Lane. Police said a man walked into the store and grabbed money from a register after the clerk had opened the machine. The suspect then ran away with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
On Thursday morning CVS stores in Indian Trail and Matthews were robbed, at 1:27 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. respectively. Just as the day before, the suspect in both of those incidents walked into the stores, took money and ran away.
Stallings police and Matthews police independently developed Williamson as the suspect in their cases.
He is being held in the Union County Jail without bond and is set to appear in court Feb. 12.
