Police are searching for the second suspect in Charlotte’s first homicide of 2013.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives have identified Anthonio “Tony” Farrar, 20, as the second suspect in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Benjamin Sky McDaniel. Farrar is wanted on charges of murder, attempted murder and conspiracy, police said.

McDaniel was shot to death Tuesday night in the 8400 block of Goldsfield Drive during what police are calling an apparent drug deal. Jerik Simmons, 21, was also shot but was in stable condition.

Police arrested the first suspect, 19-year-old Dontae Leverne Torrance, on Wednesday on charges of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy and obtaining property by false pretenses.

Torrance, McDaniel and Simmons all attended Independence High School, their Facebook pages show. McDaniel and Simmons were best friends who spent much of their free time together, according to other friends of McDaniel.
