Langtree at the Lake: Developer R.L. West announced recently that it has initiated a new branding strategy for its Langtree at the Lake mixed-use development that’s under construction at Interstate 77 Exit 31 in southern Iredell County. The development is being branded as “ ‘Langtree’ A New Town Center on Lake Norman.” To assist with the branding effort, R.L. West has retained Mann Creative Partners and Bizzell Design, both Mooresville-based, award-winning branding and strategic marketing agencies.

On Dec. 27, R.L. West announced it has a new website, www.rlwest.com, to help reposition the company in its new market.

Lake Norman Regional Medical Center: The hospital recently became the first in the Lake Norman area to offer MAKOplasty total hip replacement surgery using the RIO surgeon-controlled robotic arm system. Dr. Mark Suprock of OrthoCarolina, who also is a member of the medical staff at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, is the first orthopedic surgeon in the area to perform the surgery. www.LNRMC.com.

EnergyUnited: Statesville-based EnergyUnited recently awarded about $40,000 in Bright Ideas education grants to educators in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Iredell and nine other counties.

The 27 grants included $1,901.60 to the “Reading Sizzles During the Summer” project at Forest Park Elementary School in Kannapolis; $2,000 to the “Engineering Solutions for Life Applications” project at Pine Lake Preparatory School in Mooresville; $1,938 to the “Geometer’s Sketchpad” project at Davidson Day School; and $407.87 to the “Virtual Reading Club” at Davidson Day School.
