Shine on: The 2012 Lights for Paws holiday light display raised more than $7,200 for local animal rescue groups HS Cabarrus Animal Rescue, the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County, and Kitty City. The nonprofits got their donations Dec. 29. Ross and Darlene Shotts have hosted the fundraiser for the last three years, and thousands of people visited the walk-thru spectacle. www.lights4paws.com.
Friends of the Library: The Concord Friends of the Library will host its annual winter meeting and volunteer recognition 1-2:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Concord branch library, 27 Union St. N.
