Police search for robber targeting Hispanic women

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are searching for a man who they say targets Hispanic women and then robs them of their purses.

Two women in two different areas of Charlotte were robbed Saturday morning by a Hispanic man who was armed with a gun and drove a red Mustang, police said. The first robbery occurred at 9 a.m. in the 7200 block of Doblinway Drive in east Charlotte.

The woman was alone, walking along the road, when the suspect approached her, pointed a gun at her and stole her purse, police said.

An hour-and-a-half later, police received another report from a Hispanic woman who had been robbed in similar fashion in the 4200 block of Shamrock Drive.

Police think the cases are related and had not made any arrests by 9 p.m. Saturday.
